Engineering Professional Internships for College Students (EPICS) with Autism

About

Engineering Professional Internships for College Students with Autism (EPICS with Autism) is a collaboration between the University of Arizona Sonoran Center for Excellence in Disabilities, College of Engineering, College of Medicine – Tucson Department of Medical Imaging, and local firms with the objective of recruiting engineering students on the Spectrum for summer internships.

Individuals participating in the EPICS program will receive support from the Sonoran Center and the state Vocational Rehabilitation agency. These services, called Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) will provide job coaching support for interviewing and participating in the engineering internship for eligible students who are aged 22 or younger and are enrolled in an educational program. Interested applicants who are applying to the program through the College of Engineering will be referred to the Sonoran Center where they will meet with project staff.

Currently, we are working with Raytheon Technologies and Texas Instruments to establish a sustainable summer program for students with a focus in mechanical, systems, computer, and electrical engineering.
