MedCats for Developmental Medicine

About

MedCats for Developmental Medicine, an American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry student chapter, is a student-led University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson interest group advised by Sonoran Center affiliated faculty and medical home director Tammie Bassford, MD.

Participating students engage in activities in conjunction with the Special Olympics of Arizona, such as Health Athletes, Learning to Lead where they provide health education to athletes and work side-by-side with athlete leaders. They also participate in other service activities as opportunities arise (e.g. the Sonoran Center’s Backpacks and Boosters vaccination event) and attend lunchtime lectures and panels.

Members value learning from persons with disabilities and want to increase access to quality care for persons with disabilities.
