My name is Mumina Obeid and I am currently a senior at the University of Arizona. I am from Tucson and truly enjoy travelling and learning different languages and cultures. I first began to become involved with people with disabilities at the age of 10, after the birth of my sister. She was born with Down syndrome. Having a sister with Down syndrome has changed my way of seeing children and adults with disabilities, and has taught me that there is a lot more to learn. I enjoy working and learning about people with disabilities, they are a part of my life, and it really angers me to see that there is injustice done to them or any other. That is why I hope that being a Sonoran UCEDD trainee strengthens my leadership skills and helps me relate to people with disabilities both in and out of my field of study in order to ensure that they are treated as equally as possible.
