I am so excited to be apart of this years UCEDD Training Cohort for Developmental Disabilities. I am beginning my Senior year at the University of Arizona, majoring in Human Development and Family Science (HDFS). I am considered to be a post-traditional student, which means that I am returning to school after spending 17 years in my first career in the dental field and balancing my school schedule with my responsibilities as a wife and mother to three children. My oldest son, Ethan is what drew me to my education in HDFS along with this certificate as he is nonverbal and on the autism spectrum. I really wanted the opportunity to gain my degree in an area that I could take my personal experience as a special needs mom and help other families like mine who are navigating the waters of raising special kids.
