Austin Duncan, MPA

University of Arizona
Anthropology
PhD Candidate
I was born and raised in Seattle, WA before getting my undergraduate degree in Anthropology and African/Middle-Eastern Studies at Williams College (Williamstown, MA) in 2002. I was studying for a Fulbright Grant in Islamic Law and Youth Religious Groups when I began my own encounter with disability (a severe Traumatic Brain Injury). I am now working towards a PhD in Sociocultural and Medical Anthropology to critically assess and help improve disability rehabilitation theory and practice. My initial field site is in Cameroon, Africa, where I completed a full tour of Peace Corps service and conducted fieldwork for my MPA (University of Washington) in 2008-2010.
