Hi everyone! My name is Aaliyah Washington and I am currently a senior studying Speech Language and Hearing Sciences. I was first introduced to this major at Northern Arizona University. Despite having speech problems growing up, I didn't realize this area was something I could major in and help make a difference in the quality of speech and hearing in others. Once I transferred to the UofA, I started learning more about how disability can affect and play a role in someone's speech and hearing capabilities. I hope to someday work with these individuals as a Speech Pathologist, preferably in a hospital or school setting. I know this certificate program will help me further understand developmental disabilities and what I can do as a care provider to positively change the lives of others. I also hope to gain experience and new perspectives.
