Certificate in Developmental Disabilities
I am a senior and am seeking my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science with an emphasis in Aging and Development. I currently work in Dr. Plante's lab on campus in the Speech Language and Hearing Science Department. Through this, I work with children who have language disorders. My current thesis is whether enhanced conversational recast therapy (via teletherapy) works for children who have Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Although this focus was not the original plan, I am excited to have an interesting project that can still help people with disabilities even through the limitations of COVID. Through UCEDD, I am excited to learn more about the disability community and to meet people in the community and hear their perspective. Further hearing what people with disabilities want and need both through COVID and in life in general is a valuable experience I'm looking forward to gaining in this certificate program.
