I'm a senior studying Psychological Sciences and Care, Health, and Society in addition to my work at the UCEDD programs. I'm working towards earning my degree in genetic counseling, and plan on specializing in psychological, neurological, and cognitive disorders! I'm incredibly passionate about my work and really enjoy learning and finding new ways to expand my perspective of the world. I've found that one of the most crucial pieces to our healthcare system- our ability to provide support and care- is often overshadowed by the technical aspect. That's one of the many reasons programs like this are so important. Without understanding where another person is coming from and what their experiences are in the world, it's impossible to truly provide advice, information, and support to them. Bringing a more cohesive approach to the technical fields is one of my biggest goals! My own journey and struggles with disability, as well as my experiences teaching and caring for individuals with disabilities, has greatly encouraged me to continue my education on these issues and find ways to give voices back to those who are relying on us. I spend the time I have outside of my classes teaching in the Microbiology labs, researching Alzheimer's disease in the Human Memory Lab, and volunteering at a number of local organizations, as well as fostering a love for my ever-growing plant collection, poetry, and modern-classic literature.
