Jacy Farkas, MA, ABD, assistant director and director of training for the Sonoran Center for Excellence in Disabilities was awarded a Catalyst Seed Grant through UArizona Health Science's Vertically Integrated Projects for her project, DISCAPAZ: Disability Experiences in the Borderlands.

The focus of the grants was the creation of new undergraduate research opportunities that are embedded in faculty- or staff-led projects. Applications were open to researchers from any University of Arizona department, with preference going to interdisciplinary teams involved in long-term, large-scale investigations. The grants were funded by the VIP program’s Provost’s Investment Fund award (fall 2021 cycle), as well as matching funds from the UArizona Health Sciences. The matching funds, under the administration of Health Sciences Design, were included to promote outstanding health- and wellness-related research within the VIP program.
