Health Care Advocacy Workshop

Providing fundamental information about unique challenges of healthy aging for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

About

The Health Care Advocacy Workshop is a two-hour virtual workshop that provides fundamental information about unique challenges of healthy aging for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and helpful resources and skills to advocate for family caregivers, community care providers, support coordinators and state staff who support adult and aging people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Particular focus is paid to identification, screening and advocacy around Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia and other aging-related conditions, and use of a specific screening tool as an advocacy tool for establishing base-line and document changes to properly communicate with a care team.
