Virtual Work and Supports
About
The University of Arizona Sonoran Center’s Virtual Work-Based Learning Experiences are a continuation of a school’s Pre-Employment Transition Services. This virtual model follows the same outline that our community-based experience would follow, intended to foster and facilitate the acquisition of competitive integrated employment by the participants as they complete their work experiences with employers—virtually. The virtual work experience provides students with the opportunity to learn how to work remotely and receive virtual work supports to prepare them for todays current hybrid labor market.
The goal of the program is for a student to participate in order to obtain marketable and transferable work skills leading to competitive integrated employment. This description specifies the roles and responsibilities of the school and of the employers as they work in partnership to increase training and employment opportunities for high school students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Virtual Work-based learning experiences are unpaid, and participation does not provide any guarantee of employment upon the conclusion of the work experience period.
