Interprofessional Exercise in Disability

About

The Sonoran Center’s Interprofessional Exercise in Disability—administered by the Center for Transformative Interprofessional Healthcare—provides an introduction to barriers to health care faced by people with disabilities via directed reading, viewing of recorded interviews of people with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, and small group case discussions which are joined by community members with disabilities from all over Arizona.

This annual event engages over 500 students from across the University of Arizona, including the Health Sciences, undergraduates majoring in nutrition, and physical therapy and occupational therapy students. It is a required exercise for all College of Medicine - Tucson in their first year. The main message of this activity is that accessible and competent care involves working in partnership with the patient and other health care providers.
