Research Assistant
I am a senior, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in exercise and wellness at Arizona State University. This summer, I have the privilege of participating in the Border Latino and American Indian Summer Exposure to Research (BLAISER) program. It is an intensive 10-week program held at the UA, and is concentrated on health disparities among minorities. Working under FCM/UCEDD faculty, Julie Armin, PhD, I am contributing towards improving shared decision-making about cancer screening for Native American women with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Research has primarily consisted of training in the ethical conduct of research, participating in research team meetings, audio-to-text transcription, and literature reviews. By the conclusion of this program, I will have written and presented a research poster displaying my efforts towards understanding an area of health disparities among minorities.
