On my PhD journey at the University of Arizona, in counselor education and supervision. Graduate of San Diego State University with a bachelors in psychology, and a masters in rehabilitation counseling, specializing in psychiatric rehabilitation. Learned in providing evidence-based practices such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), social skill building, and harm reduction. I also like to incorporate psychoeducation about alternative ways to manage mental health symptoms with the use of spirituality, meditation, and diet. Client population served consists of people living with a dual diagnosis of severe mental illness (SMI) and substance use disorder. Skilled in practicing sound judgment and decision making, with an ability to lead, motivate, and guide, while promoting wellness and quality of life. I've been recognized for organization and a positive mental attitude. Coming from a culturally diverse background, I have lived experience with intersectionality, which has given me a strong sense of passion for human rights. I am also bilingual in Farsi. When I'm not counseling, or in school, I'm happy to chat about food, music, travel, nature, and animals.
